The 2004 Art Car Boot Fair will be a classic day of art and frivolity with over 40 pitches, special on-car and in-car art commissions, live DJ’s, performances, films, organic burgers, chilled drinks and a multitude of art wares spilling out of car boots - this is the Summer art event not to be missed.

VAUXHALL ART CAR COMMISSIONS
Vauxhall supported the first Art Car Boot Sale as part of the Brighton Photo Biennial in October 2003 and they are now the sole sponsor of the 2004 event. In the two month run up to the event a Vauxhall ‘Art Car’ will be carrying a series of art commissions on its rear and side windows to different arts events around the country and in London. For the Art Car Boot Fair ten artists including Gavin Turk, Mat Collishaw and Abigail Lane have been invited to customise a series of different Vauxhall models.


FASHION EAST
Fashion East is a project set up by The Old Truman Brewery to support new talent in British Fashion Design. Founded in 2000, Fashion East presents the hottest new names at London Fashion Week. Over the past 4 years the project has been the stepping-stone for designers such as Jonathan Saunders, Emma Cook, House of Jazz, Jens Laugesen and Blaak.

Karen Ashton and Helen Hayward have worked independently on a variety of art projects over the last decade, the 2004 Art Car Boot Fair is their first major collaboration.
