GG the Illustrator
Gianna Fiore, known professionally as GG the Illustrator, is an artist from West London whose work focuses on documenting council estates and working-class communities across the city.
Drawing on her own experience of growing up on Cleverly Estate, she creates paintings and illustrations that explore themes of memory, identity and social change.
Gianna creates detailed visual records of London’s urban landscapes through painting and illustration. Over the past several years, she has built an extensive creative archive of estates across the capital, capturing not only the architecture itself but also the everyday stories and moments from communities that give these places their character and soul.
Her work challenges the negative perceptions surrounding council estates by highlighting their cultural significance and the lives lived by real people. At a time when many estates are being redeveloped or demolished, her artwork serves as both documentation and celebration, preserving stories that might otherwise be forgotten.
Through her ongoing project, Estate of Mind, Gianna continues to explore the relationship between people and place, creating work that encourages viewers to look beyond buildings and recognise the communities, memories and histories they hold.
