Since 1977, painter, musician and writer Billy Childish has released over 160 independent LP’s, published 5 novels and over 45 collections of poetry, but his main job is painting for which he has become increasingly well known and respected for.
Having gained something of a cult status as an authentic figure on the margins of the mainstream culture, Childish now enjoys international recognition for his work as an artist; exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions across the world with support from important galleries in London, Berlin, New York and Margate.
The L-13 Light Industrial Workshop has been working with Billy since 2003. Initially presenting several exhibitions of paintings and prints per year and now continuing to collaborate with him on gallery projects alongside publishing books, prints, posters, and releasing recordings: recently resurrecting Childish’s own label Hangman Records to enable him to realise multiple LP recordings outside the normal concerns of the commercial recording industry.
For the Art Car Boot Fair ‘Flora and Fauna' issue, Childish has made a two colour woodcut print featuring one of his totemic animal figures: a lone wolf in a birchwood. This will be offered at below half the normal price alongside the chance to win a solid silver wolf sculpture worth over £1,000.
