Laura Cronin, aka Bumble & Earwig, explores contemporary issues though the medium of miniature wool sculpture.
Inspired by the great Victorian taxidermists, she creates small wearable pieces such as trophy head brooches, as well as miniature scenes housed within domes and dioramas. She does not aim to replicate the naturalistic scenes from which they were inspired, but instead places the animal protagonists within contemporary scenes, which include nods to environmental issues, or social commentary.
She is currently a little obsessed with pigeons!
