Caroline Thomson is an artist and MA Fine Art graduate of Chelsea College of Art (2003) and BA Fine Art graduate of Kingston University (1998). She completed the Turps Banana Off-Site Painting Programme 2022. Her work has been selected for numerous exhibitions including, London Paint Club, Lynn Painter Stainers Painting Prize Exhibition (2018, 2019) and ING Discerning Eye Exhibition (2019) among many others. She was shortlisted for the Jacksons Painting Prize 2022 and long listed for John Moores Painting Prize 2020. Her work was selected for the inaugural Anomie Collections scheme, (2023) the catalogue produced by Anomie Publishing will be released May 2023. Her work is held in a number of private collections both nationally and internationally.
She creates paintings of figures immersed within a landscape. They are often absorbed within their own world. Thomson draws on the rich artistic and literary history of woodland and forests which act as a metaphor for retreat, transformation or the unknown to create psychologically charged paintings.
