Born in Evanston, Illinois, Charles lives in semi-reclusion in a small town in rural Kent. One-time student of the Royal Academy Schools, founder member of the notorious Stuckists, his work has been exhibited in the UK, Europe, and USA, shown in the John Moore’s, the Marmite Prize and the RA.
I have made a series of monoprints for ELECTRIC Art Car Boot Fair. Monoprints are as close to the process of painting as I can get, and each one is unique; I make the image on a glass plate and then use a baren to press dampened paper over it. That makes an offset print, and I can work into the image on the glass again to make another print, and so on. It's a risky business! The prints are all on 300gsm rag paper, and I use oil based etching inks. It's all proper stuff, and blooming expensive to make. The only improper thing about it all is the images themselves. I can't really help you there...
