My first love is hand building but I explore all forms of making ceramics. I enjoy decorating my ceramics as women always have done. My pots and tiles are illustrated with narratives following my latest interests and obsessions.
My ceramics are functional and I aim to make my artwork sustainable.
I now live in Margate and swim in the sea all year round.
I made the Mermaid Army, a collection of ceramic sculptures of open water swimmers. I am currently creating the community art project Thanet Tiles Of Joy.
I sketch ideas all the time and make linocut printed tiles with my drawings of people who swim and where they swim.
Open water synchronised swimming is my latest obsession. I have made a collection of tiles and plates especially for Art Car Boot Fair of my synchronised swimming team Salty Synchro’s formations.
At the heart of my work is a sense of fun and playfulness. I love working in clay and hope people smile when they see and touch my pots and tiles.
