After national success in her home country Australia, Jess Cochrane moved to London, where she continues to create work questioning the relationship between society, consumerism and pop culture.
Jess’s focus is on feminine beauty, illustrated through the application of paint over photographic images. Jess reflects upon insecurity and perfectionism in the modern age: connecting the dots between art history, design and advertising.
She plays on the idea of pop culture and its roots in both displaying and disguising parts of ourselves. Her debut London exhibition ‘Study of a Woman Talking to Herself’ was both inspired and accompanied by works from British modern master Francis Bacon. The show was a sell-out success.
