‘KINspace is a Manchester based gallery specializing in graffiti and it’s myriad off shoots. We work primarily with artists exploring the original principles of 1980’s NYC graffiti. Letterforms, tags, characters. Taking these ideas to new levels of refinement and distilling the artform down to its barest bones. To pure gestural mark making.
We also work with artists who’s work is more traditionally abstract but has a strong element of messiness and randomness. Work that looks like an old piece of wall with 10 years worth of graffiti and bits of fly poster layered on to it.
‘KINspace is run by Ric Blackshaw who has a history working in Graffiti, street art and illustration going back to 1998 with the publication of his first book Scrawl (dirty graphics and strange characters) and the subsequent founding of Scrawl Collective an agency and art collective that put art exhibitions and live painting shows all over the world.
