Nathan Preston, who works under the pseudonym Preston Paperboy, is a self-described “neo-expressionist” who combines tenets of portraiture and Abstract Expressionism with a street art sensibility.
Using paints and textured layers, the artist layers facial fragments, crude lines, and text slogans, which altogether suggest personality and narrative. Two trademarks adorn each painting—eyes, which represents the window to the soul, and the ‘smiler’ logo.
Born and raised in Essex, Preston Paperboy studied architecture before turning to art. He’s exhibited in London, Hong Kong, Atlanta, and Miami, among other cities. Through his work, Preston Paperboy explores questions of love, loss, envy, and greed.
