Our latest edition to MY GENERATION collection of prints from 45 Original, to mark 30 years of Britpop, this new print designed by our very own Simon Collett captures the character and chaos of an iconic cultural moment in British music.
Think lager, parka jackets, punchy lyrics, and late-night Top of the Pops. Britpop wasn’t just a sound, it was an attitude. A rebellion dressed in Fred Perry and Adidas stripes. And in 1995, it exploded onto the scene, reshaping British music and youth culture forever.
1995: The Year of The Big Four & The Battle of Britpop
The mid-90s were a defining moment. Oasis brought swagger with their ground-breaking album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, and their single “Roll with It” remains one of the UK’s biggest anthems. Blur stole the spotlight at that year’s Brit Awards with their cheeky “Country House”, defining art-school cool with the album The Great Escape. Pulp gave voice to the outsiders with "Different Class". Meanwhile, Suede fused glam and grit with the single "New Generation", with frontman Brett Anderson remaining an enduring icon of Britpop style.
Together, these bands shaped a sound and a moment that transformed British music forever.
