Exclusive Launch and a chance to win an original Heath Kane

As a prelude to the launch of our beautiful blooming FLOWERSHOW next week, the ACBF in collaboration with Ourtypes are delighted to present an exclusive consignment of Heath Kane's new series Oblivious.

Comprised of twelve original pieces, these fabulous new artworks feature alluring and whimsical arrangements of balloon flowers and continue the artist's engagement with the absurdity of out of control consumerism and the denial that we are all in when faced with the urgent threats of climate change and ecological collapse. 

These balloon flowers evoke a sense of children's party entertainments and the squeaky twisting of long balloons into animals and flowers as well as the celebration balloons that are filled with helium and ‘let off’ to celebrate human milestones and sporting events  - only to pollute the environment with latex, mylar and chemical plasticisers many miles away.  

Emblematic of all of the shiny plastic ephemera that humans use for fleeting feel-good experiences or temporary convenience that then go on to junk up life on earth with long-lasting consequences. 

These balloon flower artworks also act as signifiers to stop and think of other better and more viable ways to live our lives and to make the world a better place for our children.

So while we don’t want to metaphorically pop anyone’s balloon…actually we do want to make this important point: Buy art and not balloons and maybe also plant some real flowers and blow some bubbles while you’re at it!
